Movies scripts no longer flow as before in the Nigerian home video industry. This worrisome situa-tion has forced most of the screen goddesses to switch trade as they now struggle to make ends meet. While a few have caught the bug of producing for the cinemas, some are into music to remain relevant while others are actually preparing their exit from the trade that brought them fame. Although, some are hiding under the pretence of following their dream of becoming entrepreneurs, why would anyone quit a life of glitz and glamour for everyday people’s hustle? KAZEEM POPOOLA beams his search-light on some of the actresses who have found love in other lines of business.
Eucharia Anunobi:
Not until it became public knowledge that the acclaimed Ni-geria’s own Sharon Stone, Eucha-ria Anunobi, has been ordained as a minister of God, she was rarely invited for movie jobs.
It was this dwindling acting career that forced the sexy actress to be pro-moting herself as an MC on social network. And with the situation of things, the controversial screen beau has given all up to serve in the Lord’s vineyard.
Moji Olaiya:
This now married actress is still active but the yearning for her fine face in the latest releases of Yoru-ba home videos has reduced drasti-cally.
Although, Moji Olaiya keeps a hair dressing salon as she grows in the movie industry, the gifted screen beau is scooped to have ex-panded her scope as hair stylist. She had a grand opening of one of her salons sometime ago.
Lilian Bach:
She is bold, brainy and beauti-ful: some of the qualities which gave her the needed face as model, actress and singer. While Lilian Bach has covered her neglect in the movie industry by engaging in self productions, only a few people are aware that the sexy mulatto actress is making her money from interior decoration and packaging of gift items.
Chika Ike:
Despite the fact that one can count the number of flicks which she has featured in over two years, Chika Ike is living large. A movie big girl, no doubt. Or how many of the active actresses can afford to buy a ‘tear-rubber’ SUV for their mum on Mother’s Day?
While movie buffs will continue to fan-cy her acting skill, it was amidst pomp and pageantry that Chika opened a boutique called ‘Fancy Nancy’ in Abuja late last year. So, it’s no longer news that Chika now sells shoes, bags, jewellery among others.
Lola Alao:
That the bubbly babe has takena low profile in the movie scene is like stating the obvious. Though, Lola Alao who hit the limelight with the rested TV soap, ‘Ripples’ is still maintaining her big girl status among her peers as she often lands movie roles nowadays. However, as the former air hostess with the defunct Okada Airlines pre-pares to re-launch with a new movie titled ‘Se Ike Mi’, she is now into food business. Lola’s much talked about restaurant, ‘Lola Alao kitchen’, will debut anytime from now.
Dayo Amusa:
This chubby-cheeked beautiful belle will definitely make the list of the reigning queens of the Yoruba genre of the Nigerian movie industry but her decision to go into the children education sector has gotten young en-trepreneurs going green with envy.
The busty actress, whose new flick titled “Dewunmi Iberu” is still un-dergoing a media review, officially opened a crèche called Paydab Mon-tessori somewhere in Surulere, La-gos, a couple of weeks ago
Susan Peters:
This is one of the hottest Nolly-wood actresses at the moment. Apart from having a fair share of bad press, sultry Susan has a couple of awards for her excellent character interpreta-tions in some of the new box -office hits. While Susan shines as an actress, it’s quite interesting to know that the blunt babe is also a businesswoman to the core. The Benue State born screen beau is an interior decorator with lots of high profile jobs to her credit and be-fore relocating from Kaduna to Lagos to pursue her acting career, Susan owns a salon and boutique in Kaduna.
Sophie Tchidkere:
This stunning mother of three’s disappearance from movie locations has stirred speculations that she has kissed acting goodbye. Although, the fair-skinned actress had a few years of fame in the movie industry, she has evidently called it quits for boutique business. Sophie owns a shop called ‘Added Glamour, Island, where she sells clothes, shoes, bags among other ladies wears......
