Dr. Subhash Vijayvargiya, the consultant radiologist at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital who carried out the latest CT-scan for the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency on detained comedian, Babatunde Omidina, is an ex-convict in India.
Dr. Subhash Vijayvargiya performed tests on NDLEA's high profile detainee, popular comedian Babatunde Omidina also known as "Baba Suwe" yesterday according to the NDLEA.
Records available on the internet shows Dr. Subhasjah was Bhopal-based diagnostic centre owner who was sentenced to three years in prison and fined 5,000 Rupees in 2007 after Indian authorities found out his center had no records of any kind regarding existence and maintenance records of ultrasound machine.
NDLEA officials yesterday obtained a court order to keep the popular comedian detained for 15 extra days after CT-scans reportedly showed that substances suspected to be hard drugs ingested by the comedian are still squelched inside his stomach. NDLEA spokesperson, Mitchel Ofoyeju, told SaharaReporters today the agency was unaware that Dr. Subhash was convicted in India for any medical practice. He said the NDLEA took Baba Suwe to the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) for diagnosis and not aware of the professional liability of the doctor used by LASUTH to carry out the task.
