BET’s Cypher divides Nigerian rap music enthusiasts

Despite the inability of Nigerian Hip-hop stars to pick nominations at the sixth annual BET Hip-Hop Awards which was aired on Tuesday, October 11, those selected for the recorded freestyle performances tagged The Cyper, became the envy of others like Eminem, Buster Rhymes, Ludacris, Chris Brown, Rick Ross, Estelle, Lady of Rage.
Modenine, M.I, Blaise, Eva, Naeto C, Muna, Sauce Kid, Sasha, Zee, Ice Prince are the Nigerian dudes and belles, who rocked The Cyper that was premiered last Saturday. The absence of some big names for the Cyper is, however, said to have stirred beef among the rap acts. For the Nigeria Cypher, IBK Spaceship Boi laced the rhythm and the legendary Cool DJ Jimmy Jatt and DJ Hazel Eyez were featured on the wheels of steel.
The clip was shot on location in Lagos by Clarence Peters and was produced and directed by BET International's Lilian N. Blankson. While argument over who has the best outing among the lot had since sparked off battle of supremacy in the rap game, die-hard fans of Ruggedman, Weird MC, Ikechukwu, Terry De Rapman, Bouqui, Eedris Abdulkareem (is he a rapper?), eLdee among others who were left out of BET Cypher, are now reportedly shouting blue murder for the oversight.
Although, SS is still the dark about how BET came about the choice of Nigerian lyricists on parade for Cypher, the chosen ones did prove why they cannot be ignored among Nigeria nay Africa's very best.
