Mzbel goes nude!

While many are thinking that her cries over the several punches she got from the media have subsided, Mzbel, the hot Ghanaian hip-life mu-sic sensation born Nana Ekua, has proven why she is called ‘Queen of Sauciness’.The young and gifted singer cum TV presenter, who was born on a ‘Boxing Day’, left nothing to the imagination, as she went topples in some of her recent shots.
Though, Mzbel’s intention with the nude pic-tures that were released online a couple of days ago, had left much to be desired, undoubtedly she has all it takes to define sexiness and sauciness.
However, Mzbel’s hot poses are said to be caus-ing ripples in the Ghanaian entertainment cir-cuit.
You will recall that Mzbel was reportedly arraigned for an alleged assault on a police officer.
Her picture with an old Chief Ex-ecutive of UT Bank of Ghana also got mouths wagging that probably she is

TuFace sings for Annie Macaulay?

“Ever since I left you, I have been to hell and Iam back, and my baby I want to give you my body and soul. I want you, give to you the keys to all I got cos you are my star, you are my rainbow....”These are some of the lines off 2Face’s new single titled ‘My Rainbow’.However, those who could read between the lyrics of 2Face in the new song have drawn the conclusion that the Nigerian music ambassador, who welcomed his sixth child last Saturday, is pouring his heart out to one of his ‘baby mamas’, Annie Macaulay.
‘My Rainbow’, which came barely two months after he proposed to Annie, saw 2Face musically, lamenting his regrets and pains of leaving a girl, whom music enthusiasts have given a face of Annie Macaulay.“
I can prove it anywhere, the message in the song fitted perfectly with the storm experienced in the love shared by 2Face and Annie Macau-lay,” a die-hard fan of 2Face gushed.
However, few music critics who spoke with SS, disagreed and described the song as an imag-inary work of art by a gifted singer.“
I don’t think so. 2Face is a wonderful singer and music is supposed to be an expression of a deep feeling at a point in time.
He might be tell-ing his own story but you will agree with me that he speaks the hearts of many in troubled rela-tionships. That is a well composed song, good lyrics and nice rhythm,” said a critic.

Claret Onukogu’s quest for greater heights

Claret Onukogu is not the kind of girl you’ll de-scribe with a few words. Apart from being beautiful, bold and brainy, this MBA holder in Health Administration from the South University in the United States (US) is humble, ambitious, hard-working and multicultural. These are, no doubt, some of the qualities which facilitated the phenom-enal rise and rise of the Owerri, Imo State born former beauty queen, model turned actress in the showbiz world. She started having a taste of fame as a beauty queen while in elementary school in Nigeria and on relocating to the US to complete her secondary and university education, Claret Onukogu was crowned Miss Nigeria in America 2009/2010. However, to say that Claret who is just in her 20s has so much going for her is like stating the obvious.
Apart from having a PhD in view, this first child of a family of eight is one of the fresh faces waiting to take over the Nigerian movie industry.
Aside co-hosting Music &Vibes, a mu-sical TV show, Claret has proved her act-ing prowess in Happy Family (Seasons 2 & 3), Secrets & Scandals, Clinic Matters, The Dis-clo-sure, The Code, The Se-cret Code, Two Brides and A Baby among other TV series and Nollywood blockbust-ers.
With the buzzes generated by Citizen, a new movie that has her face alongside Uti Nwachukwu (BBA all Stars Winner), Brian Ok-wara, (Ex Mr. Nigeria), Keneth Okolie (Mr World 2nd Runner Up), Melvin Odua (Mr Nigeria 2011, 1st Runner Up) amongst many others, Claret is really one of the emerging queens of Nolly-wood.
Speaking about her character in Citi-zen, she said: “I played the role of a lady who came from a wealthy home; she had everything on a platter of gold. She didn’t know what it was like to hustle and struggle.
It was challenging playing the role but worth it because it brought out the best in me.” While she not only aspires to be a face that cannot be ignored in the make believe world, Claret wants to be a voice for helpless women who face sexual harassments, prostitution, rape, genital mutila-tion, spousal abuse among other is-sues.

Emem Isong’s Catwalq on TV

It’s no longer news that the charming film producer, Emem Isong, has delved into making of TV series but it may interest you to know that Catwalq, the much talked soap of the brain behind Royal Arts Academy, is now on air. The dubbed glamor-ous soap that features Monalisa Chinda, Uru Eke, Susan Peters, Memry Savanhu and Kenneth Okolie, hit the silver screens last Tues-day.
AWL learnt that the programme that was directed by Desmond El-liot and produced by the duo of Emem Isong and Monalisa Chinda is now on TVC Lagos, CRBC Calabar, AKBC Uyo and ITV Benin.
Catwalq tells the story of three female friends who live very different and distinct lives. Unfor-tunately, the idea of run-ning a magazine called Catwalq, now posts a threat to their blooming relationship.
“Catwalq is a series that is not only meant for television stations in Nigeria but also the in-ternational cable televi-sion which is expected to project Nigeria’s image to the world,” Emem said recently.
While knocks and ku-dos trailed the first epi-sode, the best of Catwalq according to Isong.

HiTv dies in Nigeria, thrives in UK

Subair
Would Nigeria ever get it right when it comes to pay TV channels? This is one of the questions probing the minds of many as HiTV, the country’s first pay TV company, is yet to resume transmis-sion six months after it was taken over by the Guarantee Trust Bank (GTB) Plc. Surprisingly, even as most of its sub-scribers in Nigeria have discarded their decoders and lowered their satellite dishes, HiTv is enjoying a great viewership in the U.K.
Apart from the season two of the just concluded Nigeria Idol which was aired by HiTV in the UK, the pay TV company is said to have been thrilling Nigerians in the Di-aspora with some contents that keep them close to motherland, ‘Naija’.
Some Nigerian entertainers and show promoters are also said to be enjoying HiTV UK’s platform in promoting their events.
HiTv Nigeria was forced out of operation on Monday November 21, 2011, when heav-ily armed mobile policemen alongside other men in plain clothes reportedly invaded si-multaneously all HiTV offices, purportedly acting on a court order instituted by GTB over a relationship/financial dispute be-tween the Toyin Subair led- management of the firm and the bank.

Behold! Actresses in other business

Movies scripts no longer flow as before in the Nigerian home video industry. This worrisome situa-tion has forced most of the screen goddesses to switch trade as they now struggle to make ends meet. While a few have caught the bug of producing for the cinemas, some are into music to remain relevant while others are actually preparing their exit from the trade that brought them fame. Although, some are hiding under the pretence of following their dream of becoming entrepreneurs, why would anyone quit a life of glitz and glamour for everyday people’s hustle? KAZEEM POPOOLA beams his search-light on some of the actresses who have found love in other lines of business.
Eucharia Anunobi:
Not until it became public knowledge that the acclaimed Ni-geria’s own Sharon Stone, Eucha-ria Anunobi, has been ordained as a minister of God, she was rarely invited for movie jobs.
It was this dwindling acting career that forced the sexy actress to be pro-moting herself as an MC on social network. And with the situation of things, the controversial screen beau has given all up to serve in the Lord’s vineyard.
Moji Olaiya:
This now married actress is still active but the yearning for her fine face in the latest releases of Yoru-ba home videos has reduced drasti-cally.
Although, Moji Olaiya keeps a hair dressing salon as she grows in the movie industry, the gifted screen beau is scooped to have ex-panded her scope as hair stylist. She had a grand opening of one of her salons sometime ago.
Lilian Bach:
She is bold, brainy and beauti-ful: some of the qualities which gave her the needed face as model, actress and singer. While Lilian Bach has covered her neglect in the movie industry by engaging in self productions, only a few people are aware that the sexy mulatto actress is making her money from interior decoration and packaging of gift items.
Chika Ike:
Despite the fact that one can count the number of flicks which she has featured in over two years, Chika Ike is living large. A movie big girl, no doubt. Or how many of the active actresses can afford to buy a ‘tear-rubber’ SUV for their mum on Mother’s Day?
While movie buffs will continue to fan-cy her acting skill, it was amidst pomp and pageantry that Chika opened a boutique called ‘Fancy Nancy’ in Abuja late last year. So, it’s no longer news that Chika now sells shoes, bags, jewellery among others.
Lola Alao:
That the bubbly babe has takena low profile in the movie scene is like stating the obvious. Though, Lola Alao who hit the limelight with the rested TV soap, ‘Ripples’ is still maintaining her big girl status among her peers as she often lands movie roles nowadays. However, as the former air hostess with the defunct Okada Airlines pre-pares to re-launch with a new movie titled ‘Se Ike Mi’, she is now into food business. Lola’s much talked about restaurant, ‘Lola Alao kitchen’, will debut anytime from now.
Dayo Amusa:
This chubby-cheeked beautiful belle will definitely make the list of the reigning queens of the Yoruba genre of the Nigerian movie industry but her decision to go into the children education sector has gotten young en-trepreneurs going green with envy.
The busty actress, whose new flick titled “Dewunmi Iberu” is still un-dergoing a media review, officially opened a crèche called Paydab Mon-tessori somewhere in Surulere, La-gos, a couple of weeks ago
Susan Peters:
This is one of the hottest Nolly-wood actresses at the moment. Apart from having a fair share of bad press, sultry Susan has a couple of awards for her excellent character interpreta-tions in some of the new box -office hits. While Susan shines as an actress, it’s quite interesting to know that the blunt babe is also a businesswoman to the core. The Benue State born screen beau is an interior decorator with lots of high profile jobs to her credit and be-fore relocating from Kaduna to Lagos to pursue her acting career, Susan owns a salon and boutique in Kaduna.
Sophie Tchidkere:
This stunning mother of three’s disappearance from movie locations has stirred speculations that she has kissed acting goodbye. Although, the fair-skinned actress had a few years of fame in the movie industry, she has evidently called it quits for boutique business. Sophie owns a shop called ‘Added Glamour, Island, where she sells clothes, shoes, bags among other ladies wears......

Kemi Adetiba’s TV Diaries in progress

She fights like a wom-an but wins like a man best described Kemi Adetiba’s continuous rise and rise in the Nigeri-an entertainment industry. Not only that the New York Film Academy filmmaking graduate is the first Nige-rian female music video director. She has also made name in the Nigerian elec-tronic media. However, Kemi who loved to shine light on the stories of others is now ready to reveal her silly, sassy and spiritual side that had never been seen on set.
Her new project report-edly tagged Kemi Adetiba’s TV Diaries, will be hitting the silver screen soon. In preparation for the debut of the TV show, Kemi recently gave a glimpse into her personality through a series of pictures taken in various locations around Lagos.
These were posted online a couple of days ago. While the ace direc-tor cum TV presenter guides the details of her new TV show jeal-ously, the bold, blunt and brainy belle revealed that it’s a new chapter in her career

D’banj and Don Jazzy split: What’s the Koko?

Shey u won no d koko, Shay make I tell you d koko, make I tell you d koko? Don Jazzy, “D’banj tell them the koko, I say make you yan them the koko.”These are some of the lines from ‘Tongolo’ the hit track that catapulted both D’Banj and Don Jazzy to fame in the Nigerian music industry. Just as the famous close pals failed to reveal what was the ‘Koko’ in the song that was released in 2005, they have re-corded another success in getting their numerous fans guessing over the split rumour that has divided music loyalists.
While D’banj has been keeping mute on the issue, Don Jazzy’s alleged twits coupled with reactions from a few crew of Mo’ Hits sometime ago, are inconclu-sive.
But many people quickly drew the conclusion that it was over between the two. Don Jazzy’s alleged confirmation came a day before the highly anticipated music video of ‘D’banj’s newest song, ‘Oliver Twist’, hit the internet, and the absence of the former in the video, fur-ther fuelled the reported breakup.

However, as accusing fingers are being pointed in the direction of D’banj’s moth-er and Kanye West for the rumoured split, SS can authoritatively reveal that there is a new twist in the gist, and obvi-ously more questions than answers.
The new music video of Wande Coal’s ‘Private Trip’ that boldly carried the logo of Mo’ Hits, features none of the other crew members and nobody raised an eye brow. It may interest you to know that D’banj’s Koko Concert Live In London that was held late last year is now being sold in CD.
Apart from the fact there is the logo of Mo’ Hits on the CD, SS eagle’s eye caught one of the sellers gabbed in a black T-Shirt with ‘D’banj (Mo’ Hits Crew)’ inscribed on it. Not only that another Don Jazzy’s alleged twit read that D’banj is his son and he cannot beef him, a bird in the know squealed that the Don Jazzy’s and D’banj’s game plan is to start making money independently and also allow ev-ery member of Mo’ Hits to shine without riding on anybody’s fame.
What about Hip TV’s Don Jazzy’s highly revealing interview posted online a couple of days ago? Yes, nothing is im-possible in this world, would Don Jazzy and D’banj tell us the koko of the rumour milling about town?

Sasha debunks pregnancy rumour

Who is after the self- acclaimed first lady of rap music, Sa-sha? This is the question begging for answer as the pregnancy tale trailing the rap queen born Ye-tunder Alabi, may not be true after all. Though, the rumour monger who spotted Sasha a couple of days ago in-sists that the ebony complexioned rap star has been put in the family way, a reliable source hinted SS that the preg-nancy tale is a fabrication.
Sasha Pee, as she’s also fondly called was reported to have added extra pounds of flesh, a swollen face coupled with other signs of an expectant moth-er.
“Why can’t you wait for some months, at least pregnancy cannot be hidden for too long. Sasha is not preg-nant,” an insider said.
Reacting to the rumour via a reply to an SMS sent to her by us, the Storm 360’s girl wrote, “It is absolutely false!!! And we are dealing with it through the proper channels.”

Uche Iwuji goes AWOL

Irrespective of the many controver-sies that might have heralded her emergence in the Nigerian movie industry, Uche Iwuji has succeeded in worming her way into the hearts of movie buffs. Although, she might not have been rated among the best in the industry, the sultry actress has carved a niche for herself. While it’s quite obvious that the re-cess currently been undergone by Nolly-wood, especially in the Igbo genre of Ni-gerian movie industry, has taken its toll on a few familiar faces, the disappear-ance of many has become the topic of discussion in the entertainment cycles.
However, Uche, who lousy mouths claimed has become a born- again Christian, has not been in circulation for some time now. Whether she has quit acting remains a mystery. Apart from the male voice that greets back whenev-er her phone number is dialled, neither good nor bad rumour is been peddled about her of late.
Although, we gathered that the daring sexy babe has scampered to the U.K for greener pasture, she is said to have gone underground in order to cool the heated controversies surrounding her acting ca-reer and possibly to re-brand.

Drama as Nigerian Idol ends!

After several months of hard work and music, last weekend on Nigerian Idol was the semi final night. Following the tearful exit of Stephen Onochie, the two finalists Joe Blue and Mercy Chinwo sang for their lives on the Nigerian Idol stage. Joining Nigerian Idol’s dynamic judging trio as guest judge was none other than Season 1 judge and Chocolate City CEO Audu Maikori. Also joning as star guest performers for the night was rap impresario ‘Ikechukwu’ and EME boss and R&B star Banky W.

"It is a purely democratic process and Nigerian's have only today Friday 6th April to choose their winner" said Tiwa Medubi who is Project Manager of the hit show. "It has been an exciting few months of igniting dreams and building the stars of the future. We cannot wait for the people's choice to emerge this weekend, it is history the second time around!" she added.

Banky W performing
For the semi-final stage, the contestants performed three selected songs from their playlist so far in the competition. Joe Blue kicked off the performances with his choice, ‘One Moment in time’ by Whitney Houston, which was not adjudged his best performance in the competition. He redeemed his image with an exquisitely choreographed performance of Amy Winehouse’s ‘Rehab’ which was chosen by the music director. For his last performance, Joe did justice with his Nigerian contemporary selection of ‘Ifeoma’ by Felix Liberty. The climax of his performance was when he fished a ring from his pocket and slipped it onto the unsuspecting Yinka Davies finger to the delight of the audience.

Fabulous Mercy as she is fondly called began her round of performances with an emotionally charged version of Whitney Houston’s, ‘I look to you’. For her next performance, she put on her dancing shoes for a superbly choreographed and vocally powerful performance of Amerie’s ‘One Thing’. To cap up what was already an extraordinary show, the fearless diva zoomed in on a power-bike for an unforgettable remixed version of P’Square’s ‘Chop my money” by P-square. She was commended for a job well done by guest judge, Audu Maikori who emphasized that she gave the regular song a big performance. In a few days, the next Nigerian Idol will emerge, beating thousands of musical talents across the country to Nigerian music’s biggest TV reward. The next Nigerian Idol will join the elite club of Idol alumni like Jordin Sparks, Ruben Stoddard, Timi Dakolo and most recently Yeka Onka.

According to the site www.nigerianidol.com, the exciting reward promo ‘Live Your Life like an Idol’ continues as more and more winners emerge.
Last week’s biggest winner was Solomon Ameh with a whopping N820, 000 cash prize. Fans have the opportunity of winning up to 2 million naira daily, up to 4 million naira weekly and a grand prize of up to 10 million naira.
