Breaking News: 30 million naira fee tears Charly Boy, Nigerian Idol apart!

It’s no longer news that the highly anticipated talent hunt show, Nigerian Idol, is back, bigger and better, but contrary to the promise made last Wednesday November 19 by Optima Media Group (OMG), the executive producers of the dubbed most watched music reality TV show, that there would not be any change of cast for the third edition, the latest scoop is that, Charly Boy is on his way out!
Whoops! This is not unconnected to the gist making the rounds that the controversial showbiz impresario otherwise known as Area FADA, has turned Oliver twist. Charly Boy is alleged to be demanding for the whooping sum of 30 million naira before he could enter the race in search for the next Nigerian Idol.
It would be recall that CB as he’s fondly called was not at the media launch of the Nigerian Idol season 3 with the theme “Voice of Tomorrow”, which was held last week. This actually raised speculations over Charly Boy's return to the judges’ seat.
A bird in the know squealed that meetings between Charly Boy and the producers of Nigerian Idol had severally ended in deadlock as the former had insisted on pay rise.
However, as many are anxiously waiting to see the madness Charly Boy would bring to the fore as auditions for season three of Nigerian Idol hit different states of federation soon, Optima Media Group may be forced to look for possible replacement of Charly Boy.
While the information at my disposal has it that talk is still ongoing to have Charly Boy for the third season of Nigerian Idol, it’s unarguable that his controversial lifestyle, antics, craze and creativity as judge, earned Nigeria’s version of the world’s biggest reality TV show, more viewership last season.
However, as Nigerian Idol is set to storm the cities of Lagos, Abuja, Owerri, PortHarcourt, and Benin in search of Nigeria’s biggest but undiscovered talent, lead sponsor for this year’s season remains Etisalat Nigeria; Associate sponsors are leading beverage brand, Pepsi.

Charly Boy Returns For NIGERIAN IDOL SEASON 3

The highly anticipated talent hunt show, Nigerian Idol, is not only back but big and better! This was announced on Wednesday November 19 by Optima Media Group (OMG), the executive producers of the dubbed most watched music reality TV show.

However, it’s not only that Etisalat announced its continued sponsorship of Nigeria’s version of the world’s biggest reality TV show at a media event held at the Shaba Events Centre, Ikeja, Lagos, the judges; African-American dancer, singer and Michael Jackson’s personal choreographer; Jeffrey Daniels, veteran singer Yinka Davies, and the Area FADA; Charly Boy, would return to Idols for another thrilling season.

While, Ill Rhymz also returns as this year’s host, would sexy singer, Tiwa Savage join him? Let’s wait and see.   Although, Charly Boy was absent at the event, Jeffrey Daniels, who was present, could not concealed his preparedness for the TV show.

“One of the greatest highlights of my year in the last three is spent through the months of this phenomenal show. Talents I have come across are amazing and the idea of being part of this huge international platform giving birth to dreams and great acts across the world for someone who has graced stages in different parts of the continent, worked with amazing acts and several A- List producers in America, it's most fulfilling. I am truly excited to give back and groom these young stars and that's why I would be on the show as long as they want me,” said Jeffrey Daniels.

Speaking on Etisalat unflinching support for Nigerian Idol season 3 with the theme” Voice Of Tomorrow, Mr. Wael Ammar, the Chief Commercial Officer of mobile telecommunication giant, said, ““We are very excited to announce the continuation of our lead sponsorship of Nigerian Idol till 2013, and our desire to continue to empower Nigerian youths and are calling on all youth to be the ‘voice of tomorrow.”

In the words of the project manager; Tiwa Medubi, “The prize for this season is 100,000 USD, which encompasses 7.5 million Naira cash prize, a recording contract worth 7.5 million Naira, and a SUV. “This season, we will be expanding our reach from four audition cities to five cities. This is to ensure that a lot more people have a shorter distance to travel to get to the nearest audition centres. We are extremely pleased with Nigerian Idol season 2 and research findings show that Nigeria is pleased as well as such we will be concentrating effort more on improving the things we did right.”

The global franchise has produced leading music stars around the world like Reuben Studdard, Fantasia, Jennifer Hudson, and Nigeria’s Yeka whose music career has taken off with the release of two well received singles (Follow You and E Wa Bamijo) and last season’s winner, Mercy who is already making waves with live performances.

As Nigerian Idols is set to storm the cities of Lagos, Abuja, Owerri, PortHarcourt, and Benin in search of Nigeria’s biggest but undiscovered talent, lead sponsor for this year’s season remains Etisalat Nigeria; Associate sponsors are leading beverage brand Pepsi who will be supported by Megalectrics, owners of Beat, Classic and Naija FM.

Horror! Dadubule Crooner, Skaily Mental Stabs DJ Over Plate Of Indomie Noodles

Yes, it’s widely believed that a hungry man is an angry man but where on earth would human being kill for food, and for Indomie Noodles for that matter! Sounds ridiculous? Anyway  with the information at my disposal, I can authoritatively revealed that Skaily Mental, the aspiring music star, who sang the popular vulgar song titled ‘Dadubule’ has been released on bail after three days in police net.
On Wednesday, September 12, the dreadlock wearing artiste born Yemi Quadri was gathered to have allegedly stabbed Oluwafemi Ariyo a.k.a DJ Kelvin of Sidos Brat, over a plate of Indomie noodles.
According to the report, DJ Kelvin, who is the younger brother of popular singer cum actress, Shebaby, was learnt to have been contacted to be a back-up DJ for Scally Mental, during one of his performances at a show held in Shomolu. After the show held last week, Kelvin and Skaily were said to have branched at The New African Shrine to buy Indomie noodles before heading to T-Blade studio located somewhere around Oke Aro, Lagos, to do some work.
The once happy moment eventually turned bizarre, as Skaily and Kelvin engaged in a brawl. Although, what sparked up the dirty fight between the two friends over a plate of indomie noodles, still very sketchy, Skaily, who was suspected to be drunk, is said to have picked up a knife and stabbed DJ Kelvin severally.
While Skaily was arrested the next day, DJ Kelvin is learnt to have been admitted at Sarabiz Private Hospital Agbado Crossing.
However, during a telephone conversation with Mr. Joseph, the IPO in charge of the case at Ayinla police station, Agbado, confirmed the incident. “Yes, it is true but the case is still under investigation,” Joseph said.
Efforts to get Skaily’s side of story was abortive as his Glo line 08071739*** was switched off while 08025642***, the Airtel line of his Manager, Tayo, is also not reachable. Not to worry, I promise to keep you posted as drama unfolds.
