With the successes of Irapada, Araromire (The Figurine) and his latest movie titled Phone Swap, quitting his banking job in 2005 to attend the New York Film Academy where he took a directing course, was no longer a crazy idea as many thought then.
Kunle Afolayan’s rise to fame in the movie world did not come overnight, he was said to have spent eight years at home conducting research before he proceeded to a film school to learn the basics of the profession. While Kunle Afolayan dominates the world of acting, movie productions and directing, it may interest you to know that the Glo Ambassador prefers behind the scene to being in the face of the camera.
“I prefer directing because my eyes are open; I see things and interpret better. I will remain an actor forever but I think directing is an area where I have more interest. I am beginning to really understand how it works for pictures and what it takes in terms of sound, content and everything about film making,” Kunle revealed during one of his interviews.
As a multiple award-winning director, he never ceases to amaze movie buffs with his productions, most especially the current buzzes generated by Phone Swap. It’s unarguable that Kunle Afolayan still has a lot of aces up his sleeves.
